Last Day of School This Trimester

This month, I have managed to accomplish mostly everything that has needed to be done even though I had found my topic at a late time. One important thing that I thought was not possible to complete was my proposal but when you think about it, if it is hard to write the proposal, then you really do not have the project planned out yet. So after planning more things I finished it. Now, for today, I need to do my notes.

What I Did Today

Today, I got back my peer edited copy of my webliography and there are serious revisions needed to be done. I was doing that while I realized my unique facts are not completed so I was looking at my sites for more facts. At the beginning of class, I worked on my timeline, and now it has most of the things I plan to do on it. A few days ago, I started a prewriting of my proposal, but I do not have a rough draft, or started on one yet. I plan to do most of these things this weekend so the pile of work can go down.

My collage

Here is my collage. I had planned to finish it earlier but I was caught up with finding good web sites. In my opinion it is pretty good but the lady on the left's shape is scary. I wonder if that is even possible. But anyways, it is done.

Foundation Questions

Here are my foundation questions. Some of these I know a little about but I would like to know more in general. I know for sure that there will be more to this list.

Essential Question: “How do corsets from the Renaissance era compare to modern corsets?”

1. What are the different types of corsets?
2. What are the health effects of corsets?
3. What are the different parts of a corset and what do they do?
4. What corsets are more commonly worn today?
5. What corsets were worn more commonly during the renaissance?
6. What materials are used to make corsets today and in the past?
7. How are corsets made for larger people? For smaller people?
8. From now and the renaissance era, what were the looks people are striving for?
9. What differences are in the appearances of corsets from the renaissance and now?
10. Were corsets a common article of clothing in the past and now?
11. What is the History of corsets?

My Key Terms

Most of these words I never heard of before. From learning what they are, corsets sound really painful and health hazardous.

Key Terms

1.
Bodice- a laced up top or upper part of a dress
2. Boning-a stiff material put into a garment that can shape it into a desired look
3. Grommet-protective eyelet in a material that prevents damage either to the material or to a rope passed through it
4. Seamstress-a woman who sews or has an occupation of sewing
5. Corset-a stiff garment worn to shape your upper body a certain way
6. Silhouette-with a light background, having something appear dark
7. Chemise- an undergarment dress that catches body oils and sweat
8. Glénard's disease- when you wear a corset too much for long periods of time, you lose abdominal muscle tone and your visceral organs (mid-body) becomes displaced
9. Busk- the part of the corset on the front that is used to keep it straight and upright
10. Tightlacing-(also called corset training and waist training) you tightly lace up a corset to reshape your waist and ribcage

I Found it

I have no idea why I couldn't figure this out earlier but now I have my topic! I want to do my project on an article of clothing I love, corsets. I want to do a comparison of corsets of the rennisaince era and modern corsets. So my essential question would be; How do corsets from the rennisaince era compare to modern corsets? Now what I need to do is all the assignments that have been given from the beginning of September.

The World is NOT ENDING............for now

Now from switiching and playing around with ideas for this project, I have decided to look further into Fashion. Of course, this topic is too broad to find a essential question so to break it down, I want to look at people's prefance to either or both the type of fabric or the article of clothing that is worn. What fabrics I will use I do not know yet.

Week Four

These past four weeks was spent playing with ideas and deciding what I want to do. I have searched different sites for ideas but since I haven't come to an essential question, I can not make my webliography.

Not going anywhere

There is no actions I can think of for any topics. I can not find an essential question. My mind is just stuck.

Ideas

I narrowed my list but the possible actions are few as far as I can see.

Medicine
  • Abortions
  • Physical therapy
  • Veternarian
  • Medical Assisting
  • Physician Assisting

I no longer want to do anything for Politics because it would be too complicated to work on and I would lose interest in it. There are too many issues that can be worked on such as education and money spending, but the possible actions are only limited.

I am a little interested in codes that have been found to interpret books and how they find secret meanings. This I will not want to persue because it will also lose my interest and I only heard of it not too long ago.

Not Good

I do not have ideas specifically but there are different areas in general that I would like to do a project on.
  • Medicine or anything related to the medical field
  • Politics
  • Codes and hidden messages in books

If I were to do a project in any of these areas then the few things that could be done are limited. Right now I do not have a specific question that I would like to answer.

First blog

I haven't found a topic for my graduation project yet but there is still plenty of time.
